Oregon Soccer Club is seeking a tournament director for the annual Oregon Soccer Fall Fury.
The Fall Fury, scheduled for Sept. 14-16 in 2018, is the club's main fundraising event for the year.
Proceeds from the tournament help us keep registration fees down, maintain fields and fund scholarships for children whose families need financial assistance to play soccer. For the past 28 years, our annual tournament also has brought additional revenue into local businesses such as restaurants and convenience stores.
However, we need a director in order to continue our long tournament tradition, as our Board members simply cannot take on the tasks needed to organize a 100-team event in addition to the day-to-day duties needed to run the club.
One idea we'd like to put in place is that of an assistant tournament director, who would agree to move into the tournament director role after one or two years - that would help ensure that the person in the position has some experience.
The director has jurisdiction over the tournament committee, which could be a large group or a small group, depending on his or her preference. Copies of all digital files and documents from previous tournaments will be provided, and our past Fall Fury director, Robert Zimmerman, is available for consultation as needed.
Please consider volunteering for this vital position. If you're interested or have questions about it, contact OSC Board president Eric Anderson at president@oregonsc.com.
