Offer Process: Frequently Asked Questions 2024-25

Which sessions should my child attend?

Whether your child is registered for evaluation sessions or not, they should attend their birth-year sessions, as the sessions will replace regularly scheduled practices. The evaluation session schedule is posted on the Offer Process page.

What if my child isn’t going to continue playing competitive soccer next season?

They should still attend the session that their birth year is assigned, as the sessions will replace regularly scheduled practices. Once at the evaluation session, please make check in people aware of your situation.

If my child is currently playing up an age group, or wishes to do so next season, which session should I have them attend?

If your child is currently playing up or would like to play up an age level next season, please discuss this request with your child's current coach, Technical Director Chris Tadley or Director of Coaching Danny van Mol.

If my child accepts an early offer from Oregon SC, do they need to attend evaluation sessions?

Yes, as the evaluation sessions will replace regularly scheduled practices.

My child will be in high school next fall. When are their evaluations and what sessions do they attend?

The evaluation sessions for high school-age teams are scheduled for June 17 and 19. View the schedule on the Offer Process page.

My child currently is in 7th grade and is playing on a 14U/15U team this season. What should they do for evaluation sessions?

They will attend their birth-year evaluation sessions. So someone born in 2010 will attend the 2010/2011 sessions.

My child was born in 2014 and is currently in Academy, but isn’t going to play competitive soccer next season. Which practices do they attend?

They should attend the regularly scheduled Academy practices.

What if my child doesn't want to play competitive soccer at this time, but changes their mind in the future?

You should contact the Competitive Commissioner, Assistant Competitive Commissioner and Director of Coaching to see if there are spaces available at your child's age group. If there is, the Director of Coaching will attempt to schedule a make-up evaluation session, and discuss the request with your child's current coach/coaches to determine if the Competitive program is the correct place for your child's soccer development.

Can I watch the evaluation sessions?

No. Evaluation sessions are closed to parents and other observers.

I'd like to know what the coaches thought/wrote/said about my child during evaluation sessions. Can I get a copy of that?

No. The club does not release details or reports of players' evaluations.

I have questions about the evaluation process and/or the Competitive program. Who can I speak to about those questions?

The Director of Coaching will hold a meeting with parents at the start of the first evaluation session for each group to go over details, including coaching, possible team formation and league placements, club expectations about the registration process and a number of other topics. You also can contact the Competitive Commissioners with questions.
