Codes of Conduct

Playing sports such as soccer can be important learning experiences for children. Their time on the field, both during games and practices, help them learn how to deal with any number of situations, good and bad.

Oregon Soccer Club promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, respect and fair play — all tenets of our mission statement — as we help foster growth and development through soccer and enjoyment of the game.

Parents play key roles in this process, as fans during games or simply in their parental roles away from the field. Coaches, many of whom volunteer their time, also are important in this process.

All OSC players, coaches, parents and spectators should remember that they are representing our club and our community, and their actions, comments and behaviors toward opposing players, coaches and fans and officials reflect on all of us. With this in mind, the OSC Board established codes of conduct for players, parents and coaches, and periodically update them when needed.

All parents agreed to follow these policies when registering their children for the 2023-2024 season. Please review the Player Code of Conduct with your children to be sure they understand the expectations and possible ramifications for violating the code of conduct.

WYSA Zero Tolerance Policy

The purpose of the WYSA Zero Tolerance Policy (pdf) is to make clear that verbal abuse or negative criticism of referees is as unacceptable as verbal abuse or negative criticism of players. In addition to this policy, WYSA released Recommendations and Guidelines for Sideline Behavior (pdf) to ensure a positive and healthy experience for players, referees, parents and spectators.
