While it is important for Oregon Soccer Club to foster development, education and enjoyment for our players on the field, we also pride ourselves on being a positive member of our community - and teaching kids the importance of giving back to their community.

To help advance that concept, we're pleased to announce that we've started the following programs:

Food Drives

We will be holding regular food drives for the Oregon Area Food Pantry, with Kerri Modjeski and Kalee Werth coordinating the program. Thanks to Kerri and Kalee for volunteering!

Our first food drive will be Monday, Aug. 27. We're asking for the soccer community to help donate to the Food Pantry and fill their shelves for their next distribution. Your donation today will help a local family tomorrow! One can of soup or one box of macaroni and cheese is all we are asking for, but if you can do more, great!

To make it convenient, we will be available to accept donations at the Jaycee Park Shelter. We will be there Aug. 27 at the following times:

  • 9:30 to 10 a.m.
  • 2 to 2:30 p.m.
  • 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.

If you have any questions, please call or text Kalee at 608-438-2986 or Kerri at 608-220-5652.

There will be additional food drives scheduled during the fall and spring seasons.

2018-19 Season Charity

The Oregon SC Board also has started what we hope becomes a tradition of supporting a charity each season.

For the 2018-19 season, the Board selected cancer research, as we are aware of several players' parents and other family members who either are currently battling cancer or recently have done so.

Oregon SC will make a donation to cancer research at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center this season, and we invite you and your friends and family to join our fundraising team.

To further show our support, Oregon SC Competitive and Academy boys and girls teams will wear pink socks during their games in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Players in those programs have been provided pink socks, and additional socks are available for purchase for $10 per pair while supplies last - all proceeds from those sales will be added to our club donation. Email Uniform Coordinator Beth Schwantes at uniforms@oregonsc.com to order additional pink socks.

Our hope going forward is for the club to select a different charity to support each season, based on input and feedback from club families.

Thanks for your support with these projects, and your ongoing support of Oregon SC.
