Carter Abbott

Carter Abbott, a two-time WIAA state champion who was the starting goalkeeper for the University of Wisconsin men's soccer team last fall, is joining Oregon SC as our Competitive goalkeeper trainer for Spring 2023.

"We are so excited about adding Carter to our coaching staff," Oregon SC Technical Director Chris Tadley said of Abbott. "I spent all last fall working with Carter at the University of Wisconsin as the starting goalkeeper. We are incredibly fortunate to have him working with our goalkeepers and bringing the highest level of college playing experience to our club."

Abbott was the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Player of the Year and the Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year as a senior after helping Milwaukee Marquette claim WIAA Division 1 state titles in 2017 and '18.

In three seasons at UW, he posted a 1.04 goals-against average, a .731 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 40 appearances (36 starts). Abbott played every minute in goal for the Badgers in 2022, recording a 1.11 goals-against average, .746 save percentage and five clean sheets in 16 games. He is headed to Fordham as a graduate transfer next fall.

Carter will run regular sessions with Oregon SC Competitive goalkeepers this spring. Please be sure to welcome him to the club!

We are working on a plan to provide goalkeeper training for Academy players and hope to confirm those details in the near future.
