While it's important for Oregon Soccer Club to foster development, education and enjoyment for our players on the field, we also pride ourselves on being a positive member of our community - and teaching kids the importance of giving back to their community.

To help advance that concept, we're happy to announce that we will be holding our next food drive for the Oregon Area Food Pantry during the Oregon Soccer Fall Fury, which starts Friday, Oct. 1.

We're asking for the soccer community to help us fill the pantry's shelves for their next distribution. In August, our club donated 200 pounds of food to the pantry. Our goal is to double that total this tournament weekend and donate at least 400 pounds.

Donation bins/boxes will be in the Jaycee Park Shelter for the weekend. Boxes will be picked up through the weekend, with the final pick-up around 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.

Your donation today will help a local family tomorrow - one can of soup or one box of macaroni and cheese is all we are asking for, but if you can do more, great.

The Oregon Area Food Pantry will accept all non-perishable food items and toiletries, but has a particular need for the following:

  • Cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Soup
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Pasta
  • Tomato sauce
  • Meal kits such as Hamburger Helper

The Pantry cannot accept expired food, home-canned foods, home-baked goods, opened packages or any food you would not feed to your family.

If you have any questions, please call or text Kerri Modjeski at 608-220-5652.
