Oregon SC is thrilled that we are able to have so many kids back on the fields playing soccer this spring. However, we need your help to keep kids playing.

So, we're offering these reminders of the guidelines our club families need to follow when it comes to COVID-19. They come from a number of entities, including Public Health Madison-Dane County, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association and the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association.

  • Anyone (player, coach, referee or spectator) exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms of any kind must refrain from attending practices or games.
  • If a player tests positive for COVID-19: Please contact your team's coach and commissioner as soon as possible, and include the date of the positive test and the date of the onset of symptoms, if any. The player should quarantine and must not attend practices or games for 10 days. A negative COVID-19 test is not required to return, but the player needs to be symptom-free for 48 hours before returning.
  • Close contacts: Club officials will work with the player, family, coach and team COVID-19 coordinator to determine if there were any close contacts connected to soccer. A close contact is defined as anyone who is within 6 feet of the player for a total of 15 minutes or more within two days prior to his/her illness onset, regardless of whether the person was wearing a mask or not. Most close contacts need to quarantine, but there are some options. The family is allowed to choose from the following:
    • If someone is a close contact, the safest choice is to quarantine for 14 days after the exposure to the person who tested positive.
    • If someone is a close contact and quarantines for 10 days after the exposure, they are allowed to return to practices/games without a negative COVID-19 test.
    • If someone is a close contact and quarantines for 7 days after the exposure and provides a negative COVID-19 test, they can return to practices/games. The test cannot be earlier than 6 days from the exposure.
    • Which close contacts don't need to quarantine?
      • If someone is a close contact who had a positive PCR test for COVID-19 within the previous 90 days of the exposure, they do not need to quarantine.
      • If someone is a close contact and he/she is vaccinated, they do not need to quarantine as long as they completed their vaccine series at least 2 weeks prior to the exposure and have not had any symptoms since the exposure.
      • Please note: These policies apply regardless of which entity deems the child a close contact. For example, if a school district determines that a child is a close contact of a classmate who tests positive for COVID-19, these guidelines must be followed.

Thank you for your support when it comes to these guidelines. We all want the kids to be able to play as much as possible and not have games/practices canceled due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
